JANUARY ~

Monday, January 8th 2018

Meeting opens @ 4:00 p.m.

1) Attendance

2) Blessing Bags

a) We talked about sending out flyers and letters, and hanging up posters around campus promoting donations for the blessing bags.

b) It was decided that 50% of the proceeds we earn from the February dance will be put towards the blessing bag items. We also talked about giving a discount on tickets if you donated. Student council is giving donation points to NJHS if you donate to the blessing bags.

c) Also, the idea of having themes for the bags was discussed, but we decided to make a group to further investigate the blessing bags.

3) February Dance

a) We finally decided that the theme for the dance will be an under the sea theme.

b) The decorations could be sandy at the entrance and the room be the ocean.

c) Everyone needs to make contributions to the dance. One way is emailing Alanna, the president, any ideas you have for the dance. Alanna's email is alanna.desmore@comcast.net.

DECEMBER ~ NO MEETING.

OCTOBER 17th ~

Meeting Opens @ 4:00 p.m.

1.  ATTENDANCE

2. PV FAIR PROCEEDS - The Prize Wheel earned approximately $350.00 for MSSC this year.

3. HALLOWEEN DANCE SALES: Thank you to each of the MSSC Council Members who participated in pre-sales, decorations, baked goods, manning stations and more. Door Ticket Sales (81 tickets) = $648.00; Pre-Sales $365.00; Concessions $704.00 (less sales tax).  

4.  EMMA BOOKER (Title I) DARE PROGRAM - Council Members voted on purchase of DARE T-Shirts for the 5th grade students at Emma Booker. These students do not have funding for special programs. Total cost is approximately $800.00. Majority vote was for a $400 donation (approx. 50%) to this program.

5. SUPPORTING COMMUNITY FAMILIES - Discussion on the ways that we can support Community Families in need this year. Ideas brought to the table, which we will formalize at our next meeting. Ideas included: (a) Sponsoring a Dinner; (b) Crafting Event where "dinners" are crafted; (c) Fundraisers; (d) Christmas Angels; Council agreed that we would like to do more than just a financial donation and that it would be fun and more educational to involve the PV Community as a whole in some way.

6. BOARD MEMBERS - MSSC will be preparing to nominate and vote for positions. Ms. Gullick, Sponsor, has suggested that positions be created to include committees so that each Council Member has a position of responsibility. Tenative positions are as follows:  (a) President, (b) Vice President, (c) Secretary, (d) Press Secretary, (e) Historian, (f) Treasurer, (g) Committee of Representatives for PV Grades 6-8; (h) Community Contact Representatives. Additional suggestions or modifications to the above welcome. Ms. Gullick will put together a nomination forum where council members will have an opportunity to nominate individuals for the positions. Question presented on nomination-of-self, which is acceptable.

OCTOBER 2nd ~ 

Meeting Opens @ 4:00 p.m.

1. ATTENDANCE

2. DONATIONS BROUGHT IN. REMAINING DONATIONS WILL BE BROUGHT IN BY WEDNESDAY. 

3. DISCUSSION OF PRIZE WHEEL, HOW TO SEPARATE PRIZES AND USE OF BASKETS/BOXES.

4. BOOTH SCHEDULES REVIEWED FOR BOTH PRIZE WHEEL AND DUCK POND. POSITIONS NOT
FILLED WILL BE OPENED UP TO THE NJHS MEMBERS.

5. SCHEDULE FOR OCT 13TH DANCE. SALE OF TICKETS REVIEWED. TICKETS WILL BE PROVIDED, ALONG WITH CASH BOX. COST OF TICKETS IS $5.00 BEFORE, $8.00 AT THE DOOR.

6. DISCUSSION OF BAKED GOODS TO BE PROVIDED THE DAY OF THE DANCE. COST OF GOODS VARIES FROM 4/$1.00, TO 50 CENTS EACH. HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION IS $1.00 FOR HIGH-TICKET ITEMS. CHIPS WILL BE INDIVIDUALLY PACKAGED SNACK SIZES. MAD HATTER BOOTH WILL BE FREE OF CHARGE.

7. DISCUSSION REGARDING STUDENT AVAILABILITY FOR SET-UP OF DANCE ON FRIDAY. STUDENTS TO LET MS. GULLICK KNOW BY MESSAGING THROUGH REMIND.

8. COUNCIL MEMBERS TO SUGGEST /MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PRIZES TO BE GIVEN TO TOP THREE (3) COSTUMES AT THE DANCE. WINNERS ARE BRONZE, SILVER, AND GOLD. PIZZA PARTY SUGGESTED, SKYZONE PARTY SUGGESTED.
